Succop Conservancy Engagement Photos | Emily & Shawn

By | Engagements, Succop Conservancy | No Comments

Should you bring your dog to your engagement session?  YES! One hundred percent YES all the time!  Dogs are a part of our families it just feels right to include them in these important moments!  Emily and Shawn were in town for the week and brought their brand new puppy, Franklin with them to their engagement photos at Succop Conservancy.  The Conservancy has a beautiful property near the Butler County Airport with forest, fields, two ponds, and numerous buildings and backdrops that make it a great location for photos.  They also host weddings and other events in their pavilion!  Franklin was an absolute puppy angel for their session, just glad to be included and on a little adventure with his people.  We explored the trails behind the pond and even ran into some wildlife!     I got a new puppy this year as well and these two photos melt…

Working from home – Real Talk

By | Behind the Scenes, For Photographers | No Comments

We’ve all heard it.  “It must be SO nice working from home!”  I cringe a little when that’s the biggest impression people have of my job.  It’s like telling someone who works in an office “you’re job is sooo easy, all you do is type!” OR telling someone who works in a hospital “it must be soo nice to never have to go outside!”  Let’s get real.  No matter what your occupation is or where you do your work, there are parts that everyone assumes are great, but might actually suck.  With career fields changing and commerce shifting from stores to online, more people than ever are working from home.  Contrary to popular belief, unless you have the flu, staying in your pajamas till 4pm is usually a sign that you may be overwhelmed and prioritizing everything and everyone else before what’s best for you.  I’ve spent too many years…

Winter Engagement Snowball fight – Emily & Jason

By | Engagements, Milestones | No Comments

Winter engagement sessions are my favorite!  Emily and I rode the school bus together in high school and seemed to get scheduled into the same gym class year after year.  I love her dry sense of humor.  We share a joy for sarcasm, laughing, and floor hockey.  When I got to meet her fiance, Jason, I was thrilled that he also laughs easily and has a smile that lights up a room.  They are a seriously fun couple to be around – and then I met Max, their rescue corgi.  As if they could be any more fun?  Max has enough personality for a photo shoot of his very own.  When Emily said they wanted to do winter photos at her family’s property, I knew it was going to be a blast!  We bundled up spur of the moment style on a VERY cold january afternoon and took advantage…

Summer Schenley Park Engagement | Leah & Glenn

By | Engagements | No Comments

Leah and Glenn are getting married this weekend and it’s time to look back and celebrate their engagement one last time before they tie the knot!  One of their favorite activities is going for a run together or taking a long walk with their dog, Kaia.  Last summer they were living in Pittsburgh and Schenley Park was one of their frequent evening hang outs.  We met up and walked the trail near Panther Hollow at sunset and caught the last vibrant colors of the evening on top of the overlook.  They even used the first photo below as their save the date they sent out to their wedding guests!   Kaia frequently stole the show till their friends came by to pick her up so they could continue with photos dog-free.  Kaia happily trotted off to their car leaving us to feel like the parents whose kindergartner runs off with…

Oakmont Engagement Photos | Carrie + Jimmy

By | Engagements | One Comment

Carrie and Jimmy are getting married this coming weekend and last fall we met up at Dark Hollow Park in Oakmont, their favorite spot to walk their five (yes 5!) bulldogs.  I loved their story from our first meeting when Carrie pulled out her phone to show me photos of Jimmy popping the question with a puppy proposal at the airport!  He told her that they were going to pittsburgh international to meet some friends who were flying in for the weekend, but in reality Jimmy had secretly purchased a very special puppy from out of state and it was arriving by plane that evening.  While they waited outside the arrival area, (Jimmy had a friend stationed inside the airport lounge with a camera at the ready) a man walked up to Carrie and said this is for you [from Jimmy] and handed her a beautiful little ball of fur…

Laurel Highlands Engagement | Kristie + Chuck

By | Engagements | No Comments

When Kristie and Chuck told me their proposal story, it was clear there was a special place we needed to go for their engagement session.  Kristie has so many happy memories with her father from Deer Valley YMCA camp. They spent many weekends there for Daddy-daughter camp when Kristie was a little girl.  She and her father would go out on the lake, hike to the spring, and climb up the mountain to the big overlook.  Sadly, Kristie’s Dad passed away when she was fifteen and they weren’t able to continue making such beautiful memories.  Fast forward many years, Kristie had met a great guy named Chuck at Hofbrauhaus while she was out with some friends and they had been dating for over a year.  Chuck knew that he wanted to ask Kristie to marry him but he wouldn’t be able to ask her father for his blessing first, so…

Family photo session | the Ward family

By | Milestones | No Comments

Family stories are my favorite.  I first met Donna and Mike in 2008 and it has been an honor and a privilege to witness their story unfolding as they built a life together and started a family.  Now, eight years and two kids later we met up in May for a family photo session at Northmoreland Park to celebrate Cole and Cora’s birthdays!  The weather was perfect and we had fun playing outside till sunset! I love this photo of all of them together, technically it’s a one-off (which are always my favorite) from the perfect shot where everyone is looking at the camera smiling.  Cole can’t contain his laughter, Suki the dog is distracted by a duck in the distance, and everyone is happy.  This is real life, skinned knees and all, and it’s perfect.     Cole and his Daddy practicing their fighting moves. It took a while since…

Lingrow Farm Wedding | Justine & Chris

By | Lingrow Farm, weddings | 2 Comments

Justine and Chris just arrived home from their honeymoon and I cant wait to share the highlights from their lingrow farm wedding!  (You might recognize them, (and their dog, Camo) from their fall engagement photos  we shared back in November).  All week leading up to the wedding we watched the weather while Mother Nature changed her mind back and forth about what season it was outside.  While the first few reports called for three days of rain before Saturday, by the end of the week the outlook was much better!  We ended up enjoying spring weather in the morning and then a snowstorm after dark.  It wasn’t the warmest of days, but their outdoor ceremony went off without a hitch! Here are some highlights from their April 2nd wedding at lingrow farm! All of the ladies looked fantastic in matching silk robes when we arrived at the farmhouse. Camo even got…

Courtney & Matt | Hartwood Acres engagement photos

By | Engagements | No Comments

Courtney and Matt are getting married this Saturday! I know that they are hoping for snow, but here’s a look back at their summer Hartwood Acres engagement photos.   I asked Matt to describe Courtney in three words.  His first response was Mother of Dogs.  He was kidding!  *sort of*   Even though they are a family of five including their three pups, Koda, Tootise and Tanner. Matt says Courtney would save every dog she met if she could.  “Loving, pure-hearted, and genuine,” is how he describes his future wife. Proof that Courtney can be serious!  For about 2 seconds 😉  We all know she’s a giggler. Courtney said the first thing she noticed about Matt was that he was so tall!  Then she fell in love with his wit and his dry sense of humor and he charmed his way into her heart.  (Who couldn’t love a guy that wants…

Justine & Chris | fall engagement photos near Portage, PA

By | Engagements | No Comments

When you find the one, you just know.  I didn’t believe it till I met my own husband, but I can tell you that if you aren’t sure – then you haven’t met the one yet.  Justine and Chris met just a few years ago and the first thing she noticed about him was that he smiled all time.  A fortune cookie from one of their first dates of take out Chinese forecast the future. It read, “stop searching forever, happiness is right beside you.” For their fall engagement photos, Chris and Justine invited me to Chris’ family home near Portage, PA.  We explored acres of woods and fields, visited Wilmore Dam for photos by the water, and ended  at sunset on top of the hill underneath the tree where Chris proposed.  We even included the third member of their family, their golden retriever puppy, Camo.  From the tree…
