FULL SESSION OF  DIGITAL FILES

16×20 WALL ART PIECE

While I do offer digital files as an option, your photos are meant to be printed, displayed, enjoyed and held in your hands!  USB’s can be lost or damaged, hard drives fail, discs are becoming obsolete, but you know what has lasted thousands of years?  Paper.  Ironic, right?  We’ve all done it, paid for professional photos – received the digital files with the best of intentions of making our own books and prints, and then 3 years later you still never did. { #guilty }  Let me help you!  I offer prints, albums, wall art, as well as design services for greeting cards, invitations, and announcements. All print orders are professionally retouched free of charge.

What do we need to do to book you?
Let’s chat! Once we’ve got a game plan and choose your timeslot, I’ll send over an easy online agreement that outlines all of the details like when, where, rain plans, and what’s included in your chosen session. I also collect a 50% deposit to secure your date.

Will you come to our location?
Yes! Having a sense of place in your photos is one of the most important factors that often gets overlooked. I believe that WHERE and WHY we are taking photos is just as big of a deal as who and what the photos are of. Where do your most precious memories take place? Let’s go there!

What if we don’t have a location in mind, can you help?
Absolutely! I travel a lot and can recommend the perfect spot for what you’re looking for!

Do you sell prints?
Yes! After all, we’re not taking these photos so they can die alone on a hard drive somewhere, right? I shoot photos that you’ll want to see and enjoy every day and I will help you get them into an album or on the wall! I offer prints from wallet sizes to 20×30, ready to hang wall art, and albums so there’s no excuse for losing your images into the digital abyss.

Do you shoot newborn photos?
Yes! I have a particular way of going about it though. Pinterest describes it as a Lifestyle newborn session. I like to explain it by saying, “I’m not taking these photos for you. I’m taking them for the day your baby grows up.” I come right to your house and capture the essence of those first few days at home with a new little one documentary style. This means the adults are going to be in photos too. Think about when you’re baby might one day become a parent to a baby of their own. What will be more meaningful to look back on, photos of them in costumes and themed sets? Or images that show how much their family loved them and that their parents were once new moms and dads themselves? I want to show that connection and save it for the generations ahead.

When should we schedule our session?
Great question! Winter and spring are generally slower times for photographers in the north. For summer and fall, weekends are usually booked with weddings so portrait sessions are scheduled on weekday afternoons and evenings. It’s a good idea to contact me as soon as you have an idea of what season you’d like to shoot in. Summer usually books a few weeks ahead of time, but those Pennsylvania fall leaf sessions can be reserved a couple of months in advance. Contact me for availability!

Can we change outfits?
Sure thing! Just remember the more time we spend doing outfit changes, the less time we get actually taking pictures. For the 30 minute session, one outfit is best. For sessions over an hour I recommend 2-3 outfits, especially for seniors and engagements.

What should we wear?
The most important things to remember are to be comfortable and dress for the weather and the environment. We’re going to be walking, bending, and sitting on the ground. Does this mean you can’t dress up? Not at all! Just be prepared with shoes you can get around in. As far as what kind of clothing photographs well, I recommend layers and accessories to tie even the most basic outfits together. Need more inspiration? Check out my pinterest boards!

Can we bring our pets?!
PLEASE! I believe whole heartedly that pets are family. I have years of experience photographing big crazy dogs, unruly horses, and curious livestock. I’ve been bitten, scratched, stepped on, chased, even peed on! It was worth it for the photos.

What if it rains?
When you book your session, I’ll ask you to choose a date and a rain date that we’ll reserve as a back up just in case the weather isn’t cooperative the first time around. We’ll communicate about the forecast the day before your session and make a timely decision to be respectful of your work and school schedule.

Do we need props?
As MacGyver once said when asked why he carried an empty backpack, “it’s for the things I find along the way.” My philosophy for props is that it’s best if the prop is something you might find on the ground in the place that we’re shooting. Too many artificial props take away from what we’re really trying to capture in the photo, real emotions, real places, and real life.

How cold is too cold?
All weather is manageable with the right clothing! For kids under 12 though, I find that avoiding days where the windchill is below 20 degrees is usually best. Kids are smarter than us adults and they usually fail to see the logic behind why we are standing outside trying to look happy for pictures when we are freezing to death. For all other sessions, I’m game for any day the windchill is above zero!

“Um so first of all, I don’t know how you expect us to chose favorites...we love every single picture! We were both grinning ear to ear when flipping through the gallery! You not only took gorgeous pictures but captured moments in time that reflected us as a couple. Even in the funny, candid pictures, Andrew would say “you give me that look all the time” or “that’s a typical response”. So thank you so much and we absolutely cannot wait to work with you on our wedding day!!”

Jess
