Oak Lodge Wedding | Kristy + Drew

By | Oak Lodge, weddings | No Comments

THEY GOT MARRIED ON A WEDNESDAY! When they had to reschedule their Oak Lodge wedding due to c*v*d they took the next available date, which just happened to be a wednesday in the middle of the week! And everyone still came to celebrate! They were married at the one-of-a-kind log chapel venue at Oak Lodge in the Laurel Highlands. With cabins for all of you guests to stay, it’s the perfect place to make your wedding your own private retreat for the weekend! Two of my favorite people at the wedding (besides Kristy & Drew obviously), were Drew’s grandparents. They are in their 90s and came in from out of state to be a part of the weekend. Every time I saw Drew’s grandma she would say “isn’t this all just SO NICE?!” And I had to agree. They smiled and laughed and took lots of photos with the kids…

Adventure Sessions – for people who love the outdoors

By | Adventure Sessions, Engagements | No Comments

Let’s talk adventure sessions!  Have you scrolled through Pinterest and looked at countless wedding photos and portrait sessions and just felt like none of them really felt like YOU?  Let’s talk about you – (or maybe me?) – you hate high heels, you don’t own a single fancy dress that makes you feel great about yourself, you don’t care what the kardashians are up to, and your perfect night “out” is a glass of wine on the back porch.  If you’d rather spend your weekend by a campfire or taking a hike with your dog instead of shopping in the big city – you are in the right place. I’ve got just the experience for you! What makes adventure sessions special and how is it different from a regular photo session? An adventure session is unique because it’s not just about photos, but about getting outside your comfort zone (or…

Laurel Highlands Engagement | Kristie + Chuck

By | Engagements | No Comments

When Kristie and Chuck told me their proposal story, it was clear there was a special place we needed to go for their engagement session.  Kristie has so many happy memories with her father from Deer Valley YMCA camp. They spent many weekends there for Daddy-daughter camp when Kristie was a little girl.  She and her father would go out on the lake, hike to the spring, and climb up the mountain to the big overlook.  Sadly, Kristie’s Dad passed away when she was fifteen and they weren’t able to continue making such beautiful memories.  Fast forward many years, Kristie had met a great guy named Chuck at Hofbrauhaus while she was out with some friends and they had been dating for over a year.  Chuck knew that he wanted to ask Kristie to marry him but he wouldn’t be able to ask her father for his blessing first, so…

Jessica & Steve | colorful rainy day wedding at Lingrow Farm

By | Lingrow Farm, weddings | 2 Comments

Every wedding couple hopes for sunny skies on their wedding day, but mother nature doesn’t always get the message.  Jessica and Steve were married one year ago today at beautiful Lingrow Farm in Leechburg, PA.  Having rain on your wedding day worries a lot of brides – especially if you’re hosting your ceremony and reception at a venue with great outdoor spaces like Lingrow that you want to take advantage of!  The key is to be prepared work with the weather and plan to have a good time no matter what.  (It also helps to have a photographer that is comfortable in the great outdoors!)  I firmly believe that BAD weather makes for GOOD photos – scroll down to see why ! The rain was already falling softly when we arrived.  Jessica was getting ready in the restored farmhouse at Lingrow Farm.  She was mid hair and make up and…

Susan & Chris | Laurel Highlands Wedding at Penn Scenic View

By | Penn Scenic View, weddings | No Comments

I thought today it would be cool today to dig back in the archives a little and wish Susan and Chris a happy anniversary!  Two years ago this weekend, they tied the knot in an outdoor ceremony in the Laurel Highlands at Penn Scenic View in Rockwood, PA.  It was a cool cloudy morning just like today.  When we arrived, the girls were getting ready in the chalet.   The property at Penn Scenic View is really gorgeous.  There’s a lake full of fish with a little island, lots of fields of tiny pine trees, a wood sided main lodge for receptions and on top of the hill you can see for miles! Susan’s dress was a simple spaghetti strap sheath gown with lots of details and a little sparkle.     Susan brought along a teddy bear that has been with her since childhood.  We laughed when the phone…
